We just finished putting together our new FAAST course. The purpose of this course is to train participants who want to learn how to do an overnight hike carrying only what they need. This course teaches how to choose your gear, learning where to conserve weight and where to focus on quality, how to find your way and where to choose to camp. We have incorporated some survival skills into the curriculum to add some confidence into your journeys for that “just in case” scenario. These skills will give you the confidence to find your way, and explore places that you never thought you would see.
The course includes:
- Choosing Gear
- What to Pack
- Choosing a Campsite
- Way-finding (Navigation)
- Outdoor/Animal Safety
- Survival Skills
- Improvised Shelters
- Primitive Fire Building (without matches)
- Water Purifcation
- Food Procurement and Preparation
Future courses that will be built off of this base course will be wilderness survival and land navigation, both stand-alone courses for the individual who wants to be prepared.
Classes sizes are limited. Contact us for more information.
