Intro to Swift Water Survival
This one day course is designed to give you the needed skills to survive if you are exposed to a swift water environment.
Course includes instruction in:
- Water Dynamics
- Hazard Recognition
- Maneuvering in Swift Water
- Protective Equipment
- Rescue Devices
- Hazard Escapes
- Assisting Others
Class is held in a water environment, basic swimming skills are a pre-requisite.
Course is open to anyone.
Course is dependent on water conditions and is generally given in the spring and in the fall.
Technical Swift Water Rescue 1
This 3 Day Course (30 hour standard) covers the basics of Swift Water Rescue. Course introduces the participants to skill needed to conduct rescues in a swift water environment.
Course instruction includes:
- Standards and Guidelines
- Water and Waterway Dynamics
- Personal Protective Equipment
- Hazard Recognition
- Lifeguarding Techniques
- Rescue Devices
- Victim Packaging
- Practical Operations and Planning
- Scenario Based Operations
Course is held in both a classroom and water environment, basic swimming skills are a pre-requisite.
Course is open to anyone. Standards meet NFPA guidelines for Fire Service and Rescue Agencies.
Course is dependent on water conditions and is generally offered in the spring and in the fall.

Technical Swift Water Rescue 2
This 4 Day Course (45 hour standard) covers advanced techniques of Swift Water Rescue. Course is a complete course to train individuals in advanced swift water rescue skills.
Course instruction is customized to the requesting participants and may include any of the following:

- Personal Protective Equipment
- Hazard Recognition
- Lifeguarding Techniques
- Rescue Devices
- Victim Packaging

- High Line and Movable Control Point Operations
- Advanced Boat Operations
- Strainer Rescues/
- Large Scale Search Operations
- Low Water Dam Rescues
- Advanced Vehicle Rescues
- Advanced Scenario Based Operations
Course is held in both a classroom and water environment, basic swimming skills are a pre-requisite.
Course is open to anyone. Training standards meet NFPA Technician Level Operations guidelines for Fire Service and Rescue Agencies.
